Warrnambool’s biggest free Australia Day party will be at the Botanic Gardens on January 26… and you’re invited!

Join us to help celebrate what's great about our nation at Warrnambool’s official Australia Day community event.

Bring your picnic blanket, sunglasses and maybe even your cricket set, and soak up a fantastic day set amongst Warrnambool’s breathtaking Botanic Gardens.

A traditional Aussie barbeque will be sizzling away or you can bring your own picnic.

Relax and enjoy the free live entertainment from talented musicians Cooper Lower and the Louie Clancey Band who will be playing originals as well as covers of hits from iconic Australian artists.

The renowned Holiday Actors will also stage a special performance and the Friends of the Botanic Gardens will be taking tours at 12.15pm and 1pm.

A raft of children's activities will also be on offer.

There will also be the opportunity to welcome new citizens with an official ceremony and congratulate outstanding existing ones with the announcement of the Warrnambool Australia Day award winners.

Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and the Local Achiever Award.

Warrnambool Mayor Michael Neoh said that Australia Day is a time to reflect on the contribution of all Australians in making our nation great.

“It is an opportunity to recognise the traditional custodians of our country and the subsequent people that have come to our shores over the past 200 years,” Cr Neoh said.

“It is also a day to enjoy our favourite pastimes and embrace our democratic and multicultural society.”

Festivities will commence at 10.30am and run until about 4pm.

The Warrnambool Botanic Gardens are located on Botanic Road, a few hundred metres north of the CBD.
