Warrnambool to host 2020 CWA conference

News Article Date:

Warrnambool will welcome about 800 Country Women’s Association (CWA) members to the city in 2020 for the annual CWA state delegate forum.

The event will be held at the Emmanuel Centre from May 28 to 30 and feature a wide variety of guest speakers, discussions and activities including the Annual General Meeting of CWA Victoria.

CWA South Western Group President Pam Andrew said that as well as providing an important networking opportunity for members, it would thrust the local branch into the spotlight.

“It is a great opportunity for members from Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales to get together and update each other on the goings on and key issues affecting members and the community,” she said.

“We also see it as a great opportunity to promote the work that the CWA branches in our region do while potentially gaining some new members and promoting the Warrnambool region.”

Warrnambool Mayor Tony Herbert said that the CWA was part of the fabric of Warrnambool and Australia.

“With almost 100 years of service to communities around Australia, the CWA is one of our country’s finest institutions,” he said.

“While they are quite rightly famous for their knitting and their scones, the number of projects and activities that dedicated CWA members have a positive impact on is huge.

“Warrnambool wouldn’t be what it is today without the CWA and organisations like it.

“I look forward to welcoming the hundreds of CWA delegates who will visit our city as they celebrate their successes while charting a course for the future of their fine association.”
