Acacia verticillata

A prickly medium to tall shrub that grows to between 2-4 metres tall with green needle-like dark green leaves. This shrub has light yellow flowers in cylindrical spikes. It grows in moist sandy or clay soils and can withstand periods of waterlogging and suits wet winter, dry summer sites. It is excellent bird habitat and a favourite nesting site for Blue Wrens. It also attracts pollen-feeding insects and insect eating birds.
